Our families show up every day ready to overcome and conquer adversity. Family Success Planning not only acknowledges their resilience, but empowers them by connecting them to tools that will aid them in moving forward. These tools include Parent Cafes and community circles that allow parents to speak candidly about what they experience on a daily basis.
Oftentimes our families feel like they’re alone in their trauma. Connecting them with other families who are on a similar path of progression can encourage them and help them to lean on each other. Family Success Planning creates opportunities for our families to connect and build true community with each other.
Family Success Coaches and Youth Success Advocates will serve as the direct support for every family connected to Family Success Planning. Having a personal support network will allow our families to stay accountable to their goals and what they want to accomplish. We are also available to help meet real, physical needs, whether it's a ride to work, securing childcare, or access to fresh food.
GOODProjects has partnered with residents living in SW, DC Housing Authority, DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) and the Southwest Business Improvement District (SWBID) to combat food insecurity in the GOODZone. Together, we give more than 500 grocery bags to Southwest residents on a weekly basis. Each grocery bag is approximately 12 pounds of fresh, mostly local produce. DCCK procures the produce and assembles the bags, and SWBID delivers them to accessible locations for residents. Once delivered, the bags are distributed directly to residents by community volunteers and Resident Council Presidents.
Our collective goal is to improve health outcomes and prevent hunger in the GOODZone by providing families access to basic needs on a weekly basis, with the intent for families to gain self-sufficiency in the areas of nutrition and healthcare by 2030.
